International Volunteer Day

Saturday 5 December is the United Nations' International Volunteer Day 2020, and this year’s theme is ‘Together We Can Through Volunteering’.

The Covid pandemic has shown us all how valuable volunteering is. At Tandem we simply couldn’t do the work we do without our wonderful and dedicated befrienders. Throughout lockdown they kept in touch with their befriending partners, speaking on the phone or meeting up whenever the regulations permitted.

Tandem volunteers give their time, skills, humour, kindness, and encouragement. And they tell us how, in return, they are rewarded by seeing the positive effect that their volunteering has on the lives of others. Volunteering can be life changing.
